PSEO (Personal Search Engine Optimisation)
March 15th, 2008 John LilleyMy personal web page is now just about ready. The aim is to compete with the other John Lilleys that exist in the search engine result pages (SERPs). Take a look at the PSEO Experiment page for the updates as I start to use techniques that I have used in my day job, to influence the visibility of my personal profile.
Why am I doing this? Well, I have been finding that whenever I meet with a person in my day job (Franchise Sales, for MRINetwork) they tend to use Google to do their due diligence and research. As I conducted similar searches, I found that my profile was hard to find. Not ideal, I want them to see that I am a trust worthy professional with a proven track record in franchising and recruitment.
Technology tools, trends and in particular web technologies have been a large part of my career to date. It is a hobby to me to stay up to date and make use of new trends, and assess their ability to help with productivity and promotion within our offices.
By taking my current expertise in web technologies and particular SEO I want to improve my personal profile, document the process and share it with others.
The first two phases have been written up, so take a look and please feel free to contribute if you have an opinion or experience that should be included in the experiment. I’ll keep you informed as I proceed.
